People in Projects

Set stage for human relations

Projects are, without a doubt, a stage for teamwork, collaboration and human relations. These are the moments to see how people bring their abilities and know-how for the team’s benefit in a best possible way, and how they manage their own work. Communication, and the way it’s done, has a huge impact on how you are heard.

Don’t hide behind your role

At best, every member of the project knows the big picture well and understands their own part in it. Expertise and seeing the big picture are not enough, however, one has to be ready to express opinion, advance their own work independently and help others to succeed. Project manager, or team leader, at their best, is inspiring, good judge of character and knows about managing people and group dynamics. They can create an open and confidential environment, where everyone has the chance to give their best. I believe that good, solution-based atmosphere helps to succeed, and mistakes and delays are communicated on time. In addition, the project team spirit has a big impact on whether there are new, creative solutions generated. Trust and openness is created through person-to-person attitude. People hiding behind their role will not reach this.

Correct targeting of information

Change and hurry are quite normal in projects. The project manager needs to be alert and communicate the right information to the right people. People don’t just want to work on their own little piece of the puzzle, but understand the big picture as well. There’s no need to overload everyone with all the information available, though. It’s all about correct targeting. However, everything is not dependent on project management, every member of the project can develop their own project member skillset, the ability to live with uncertainty, prioritize tasks, come up with new, creative solutions.

Dream team

I would love to make a project with people

  • Who have motivation, strong commitment and competence.
  • Who have the will to learn.
  • Who are good with people.
  • Who value, respect and take notice of other people.
  • Who are positive and realistically optimistic.
  • Who concentrate on solutions and have good sense of proportion. They bounce back from failure, look forward and instead of complaining look for answers.
  • Who have good self-esteem and self-knowledge.
  • Who are persistent, humorous and joyous.

The dream team has a common goal, and they carry the responsibilities together. We can do it! If you have been a part of a dream team, how was it?
